RedBeard Trucking
The business side of trucking, from the person who sees how it actually ends up. RedBeard Trucking is for owner-operators and small fleets working out whether the numbers really work: the true cost of your own authority, DOT compliance, and the mistakes that are expensive to learn the hard way. Jeremy "RedBeard" McClure is an independent insurance agent writing in 46 states, so he sees what happens after the wreck, after the audit, after a filing lapsed. Not theory, not a sales pitch. Some episodes are narrated using an AI recreation of Jeremy's voice.

The Hotshot Reality Check: 3 Things People Get Wrong Before They Start
Hosted by Jeremy "RedBeard" McClure
What this one's about
The three most common and most expensive mistakes people make getting into hotshot: thinking their existing commercial insurance carries over, thinking they can run part time on weekends, and misunderstanding the CDL and weight rules. Straight talk from an agent who writes it every day.
The short version
- 1Commercial insurance is not one thing. A policy rated for a food truck or a landscaper was never underwritten for hauling someone else's freight, and a claim while doing it can be denied outright.
- 2Hotshot is a fixed-cost business. The same eighteen thousand dollar policy is 18 cents a mile at a hundred thousand miles and a dollar fifty a mile on weekends only. The overhead does not shrink to match part-time income.
- 3The 26,000-pound line decides your licence. The 10,000-pound line decides whether you are federally regulated at all, and almost every hotshot clears the second one without noticing.
